Sharing Expectations

I have GOT to share some requests or emails I have received. I've been doing sales support and estimating almost 4 years for this company (started in tech support/production with Radius 3 - AdvanceYourWebsite.com) and sometimes, on the days where my brain is fried, it's hard not to laugh.

Best one yet:
I had one gentleman once ask for a quote on creating an eCommerce solutions 'like Amazon, but without all the bells and whistles'. I wish I had saved that email!

Comment:
"Although this is a bit higher than I initially had budgeted, we are pressed to get this project started. I would like to move forward as soon as possible. What are the next steps?"

Translation: OK, if I MUST pay you guys, I think I'm paying too much, but go ahead. Read into: I'll be rushing you to get this done.

Comment:
"This client is looking for a WOW effect for the 2500.00 price and wants to be surprised by an awesome design. There is no budget on this one to exceed the work or hours that you will quote."

Translation: I've sold this for little to no profit margin.

Granted:
Less money/hours will produce fewer effects and fewer page layouts, but if I want your business again (or anyone else's), I'm going to do the best that I can in the time I'm allotted.

Every job I/we do, is a possible testimonial and portfolio addition. All of the people I've worked with or associate with in this web/design business does their best.
