Freedom Of or Freedom From

I believe in one's own right to choose. What I believe shouldn't be shoved down the throat of anyone else. Hence blogging. If you choose not to believe what I blog about, you have a plethora of other spaces to traverse. If you choose to voice differently, you may comment.

Our children should be exposed to the right to choose and should be taught ALL views and therefore will grow and learn empathy; not "my way is the right way".

I'm not saying that we should teach our children not to have opinions; that's one very important ingredient in our uniqueness soup. Values mold us and values come from family and peers. As parents we cannot dictate, only guide.

Do you know the difference between empathy and sympathy?

Our children should understand the Bill of Rights whereby everyone has the right to freedom of speech, thought and expression. Note to self: read it again.

First and foremost what I believe is missing is respect. Respect. Period.

You may have an opinion that differs from mine. So what!? You may be having a bad day, but please respect that I don't know what baggage you are carrying around; don't blindside me with your ignorance. I will do my best to understand your problems and help you through it.

We (as Americans? or as Human Beings?) have the freedom to discuss, the education to discuss wisely and the family values to respect one's opinion.

Freedom. Education. Values.

Hi there - Did something specific happen? This definitely sounds like a response to something off-line. Care to share? Anything to do with the word "empathy" being hyper-over-analyzed by Fox News regarding the next Supreme Court Nominee? Or am I projecting? Please - do tell.

No one case prompted me to this. I try to learn my lessons from others and move on without placing blame. I thank these people for teaching me how NOT to act. Yin-Yang.
